Optional document processing

Bring document text into the review workflow.

Extract available PDF text and, where needed, request managed text recognition. The resulting text can be used as the source for an optional AI document summary.

Ask about availability

Optional tools · provider and plan requirements apply

Illustrative product example · fictional files and names · early access

Early access: text in PDFs is read directly and works today; recognition of scanned pages and images may be unavailable at times while we roll it out. It needs a Pro or Team plan.

A text source you can inspect before summarizing.

Some PDFs contain selectable text; others are scanned pages. The processing workflow handles these sources separately and keeps extracted results associated with the file version.

Read embedded PDF text

Use text already present in a PDF when the document supports extraction.

Recognize scanned pages

The managed OCR path can process eligible pages when configured and authorized.

Reuse the version’s result

Stored processing results are associated with the source version. Reopening the review does not itself request another extraction.

The workflow

How text recognition works.

  1. 1

    Open the PDF

Use an uploaded PDF or the generated PDF for an Office version.

  2. 2

    Request extraction

When enabled, request extraction within the workspace’s text-recognition allowance.

  3. 3

    Inspect and reuse

Read the extracted text and optionally use it as input for an AI document summary.

Before you start

  • Recognition can be incomplete or inaccurate. It does not rewrite your original or guarantee a searchable PDF export.
  • The current synchronous path accepts PDFs of up to 50 pages, processing at most 10 scanned pages per request, and a 10 MiB PDF. Provider and monthly quotas also apply.
  • OCR and AI consume separate allowances. Neither is triggered by a guest opening a review link.
